David Flies to London

David flew back to London and Portsmouth for a 2 day trip missing his 8 AM flight from Paris because of a delay on the RER.  A train driver had been held at gunpoint.  He finally arrived London at 1:30PM.

I volunteered at the American Church to help prepare food for Tuesday’s annual program “Bloom Where You Are Planted” - a program sponsored by the Church for newcomers to Paris.

A Fall Day in Paris

What a beautiful, cool, sunny Fall day!  After a beautiful Church service we and other members of the Young Couples Group from the Church ventured South of Paris to visit the Chateau Vaux-Le-Vicompte - a beautiful chateau.

We had a lovely picnic on the chateau grounds.

American Store and Fire Ants

A lot less people in Church today due to the Summer months and vacations. Returned to the “American Store” and returned my half full box of crackers in exchange for a full one. Ventured to the Concorde and Louve area to find lots of tourists and tour busses [sic] a plenty (even saw busses [sic] from Czechoslovakia).

Back to St. Germain and a walk to our Castle in the city and the beautiful park grounds surrounding it. Amazingly, no fire ants or flies in this country.

Editor’s Notes

I have been short on adding photos to the posts, sorry. Here is a photo of David at the church yesterday (Saturday, July 20, 1991) and the caption reads:

David Visiting Poses France

Georgia took several photos on their quick road trip from Saturday and I will try to post a few of them at a time. You may also notice that I redesigned the site. This is an ongoing process and soon I will have some images of Georgia at the top instead of my face staring back at you. I am trying to give this blog a look and feel of Georgia, it just takes some time.

They have some interesting trips coming up, but I am trying not to read to far ahead. Right now I am reading right along with you, but flipping through the journal I see some trips to Spain and back to the U.S. as well.

Bastille Day and a Little Protest

Bastille day - France’s Independence celebration. We head to Church along with all the other people on their way to the Parade. Unusual incident during the first hymn. A young man walks in, draped in black leather carrying a banner displaying his protest against the U.S. policy of not allowing people who have aids to re-enter the country.

He was followed by another young man taking pictures of him for publicity. The minister spoke with them and they left. An absolutely magnificent visiting black Gospel choir at Church today.
