The afternoon was spent with a drive to the champagne country and visiting the cave of Mercier champagne in Epernay. Lunch in a French cafe in Epernay and a drive back home the back road direction thru champagne country.

A Beautiful Memorial Service

Georgia passed away on April 8th, 2008 with her daughter by her side. A few family members have asked if we had the audio for the memorial service for Georgia so I am going to post the podcast here.

The service was on Saturday, April 5th at her local church with a sanctuary filled with flowers.

Please be careful with your speakers when listening to the audio. It was a very small dictation recorder that made the recording and the sound quality is a little harsh, sorry. The two links below are options for two different sizes to download to your computer. The first file is a large file but run at a higher sound quality, the second is a small file.

Georgia Christal Memorial Service (56mb @ 192kbps)
Georgia Christal Memorial Service (9mb @ 32kbps)

You can right click on either file above and save it to your hard drive. To just listen to the service from within this post, you can click play on the player below. The file below is the larger higher quality recording.

About My Life in Europe

This blog is a posting of daily journals entries of two unpublished works written by Georgia Christal, My Life in France, and My Life in Germany. Each single entry that is posted in the category for France or Germany will correspond with one day in the journal.

These journals were composed while Georgia was living in Europe and are the day to day happenings while she lived there. Long before blogs were ever popular, she wrote one and was happy to share it with many people. They are being re-written now for her friends and family to enjoy.

Each entry will be posted in chronological order starting from the first entry, dated Sunday, June 2nd, 1991 and continue through the end of the completed journal. This blog is written and maintained by Scott Fillmer, Georgia’s son in-law and is intended to showcase some of Georgia’s life.

Information included here is also being compiled for genealogical purposes for the sur-families of Christal, Hetmer, Fillmer, Harrocks, Davis, and a few others.

Testing the New Georgia Christal

This is a test for the new blog.  This is going to be setup as a daily entry of her journals from Europe.
