Louis declared it a holiday for Intervoice so David caught up on his reading and I packed for my trip home to the U.S.

Early AM flight for me to Dallas, excited once again of seeing everyone and being at our real home for Christmas, with David joining me on December 11.

Thanksgiving Day, Not Celebrated Here

Thanksgiving Day - Not celebrated here.  David worked most of the day, but, as Intervoice is an American based comapny, Louis and Isabelle hosted a turkey and trimmings dinner at their home.  Very delightful.

Halloween, but Not in France

David leaves early A.M. for London returning late night.

Thursday, October 31, 1991

No Bible Study today as tomorrow is a holiday in France - “All Saints Day”.  Today is Halloween but you wouldn’t know it here.  The practice of Trick or Treating is not done here.  There are no candy bags for sale, nor any costumes.

We have only seen one small specialty shop with a few decorations in the window.  We had wondered how children would be able to trick or treat if it were a tradition here, as the access to apartment buildings and houses is only with a key thru common front doors, gates, etc.

Well, the car is packed.  It’s 5PM.  David was to leave the office at 1PM???.  He didn’t make it.  We’re driving to the Brittany area for this 3 day weekend.  guess we’ll leave tomorrow as it’s getting dark.

Labor Day in the USA

(Labor Day in USA, but not here) - Jet lad had set in for me. I tried to go to sleep about 10pm last night but since I was still on Dallas time and wishing I was watching the Dallas Cowboys (3pm in Dallas), I was wide awake until 5am my time. (my payment for taking the Sunday afternoon nap.)

David took a 7:30am flight to Spain and I finally slept a few hours. He returned Monday evening from a good meeting and really tired and ready to stop flying for a while.

Editor’s Notes

When Deborah and I went over to visit them the first time in Paris Georgia forced Deborah to stay up all day by taking us to the Eiffel Tower and various other tourist attractions so we wouldn’t fall asleep. I think Deborah by dinner time was about ready to kill her because all she wanted to do was sleep.

Bastille Day and a Little Protest

Bastille day - France’s Independence celebration. We head to Church along with all the other people on their way to the Parade. Unusual incident during the first hymn. A young man walks in, draped in black leather carrying a banner displaying his protest against the U.S. policy of not allowing people who have aids to re-enter the country.

He was followed by another young man taking pictures of him for publicity. The minister spoke with them and they left. An absolutely magnificent visiting black Gospel choir at Church today.
